Welcome to your cycling holiday in Germany 2012!
The country of poets and thinkers lies in the middle of Europe. The Alps and Lake Constance in the South, the North and the Baltic Sea, as well as the rivers Oder, Elbe, Inn and Rhine adorn Germany's borders. A well-developed bicycle path network not only makes cyclists' hearts beat faster, but also ensures that your bicycle holiday in Germany will be relaxing.
There is much to discover in the country, which is characterized by the mining industry and entrepreneurship and has a very rich culture. Large agricultural companies in the northern lowlands contrast with small family-run farms in the Black Forest, wealthy Hanseatic towns at the North Sea and Baltic Sea with provincial small towns along the Rhine. In small villages you will find traditional craftsmanship as well as market-leading companies. Impressive castles perch on top of rocky ledges and in-between forest areas and lakes you will encounter splendid bishop's sees such as Regensburg or Passau, residence cities such as Heidelberg or Mainz and modern cultural metropolitan areas such as Berlin.
The regional German cuisine is to be recommended. It definitely can't hide the influences of its European neighbours: In the South you can find different kinds of noodle dishes and wine, while in the North you can enjoy versatile potato dishes and beers. The sausage in the obligatory bread roll can be found everywhere in Germany. However, there are huge regional differences: While in Bavaria the Weisswurst is enjoyed with a Pretzel and locally brewed wheat beer, the Frankfurter sausages and the Nuremberger bratwurst are usually eaten with brown bread. You should definitely not miss this German speciality. Those who prefer fish, will enjoy Lake Constance's regional whitefish, or Matjes at the North Sea.
Connoisseurs, families, athletes, by ship, mountain bike, or comfortable touring bikes- we wish you an enjoyable bicycle holiday in Germany!
